Snow day at the Crabby Chicken Ranch
November 23, 2010
The temperature's been down in the mid 20's today and will drop to the teens tonight.
We're not forecast for temps above freezing until Thursday afternoon.
It was well below freezing overnight, windy and snowing. We hunkered down and took care of the pets.
When we got up in the morning, the snow had ended and the day was crisp and bright.
The hills nearby were dressed in snow and the roads were nearly devoid of traffic.
Our house in the snow.
The snow wasn't deep - only 4 or 5 inches, but it was bitterly cold!
Our stallion 'Mister' got the field to himself for a while
(if you don't count the guy following him around with a camera...)
Our mares "Frog" and "Charm" out in the snow.
Cute little Tori (aka "Beach Ball") playing in the snow.
Tori and Charm with snow lips.
Gelding Falcon and his gang of mares.
Mares running in the snow!
I put out extra food and water for our bird friends and they put on a show.
More bird entertainment...
This little Junco posed for the camera.
I think he's auditioning for this year's Christmas Card painting.
Our mini-Ausie puppy "Cassidy" playing Frisbee in the snow.
Sunset on a cold day.
As I post this, it's been an hour since sunset and the temp is already down to 16 degrees.
Happy Thanksgiving - we're thankful for friends, family and our critters!
